CONRAD AND SELNER AWARDED 2012 MCCULLOUGH SCHOLARSHIPS - August 2012

Denmark, Wis. - Mikayla Conrad of New Holland, Ohio and Emily Selner of Denmark, Wis. have been selected as winners of the 2012 National Dairy Shrine/Marshall E. McCullough Scholarship given in memory of Marshall E. McCullough, the well-respected nutrition researcher and educator from Georgia. The scholarship is presented to two high school seniors planning to attend a four-year college or university to major in an agricultural communications field. The application process includes both a written application and, once finalists are chosen, a video submission responding to specific dairy industry questions.

Denmark, Wis. - The dairy industry is rich with history and brimming with leaders who shaped it, some in the limelight and others behind the scenes. Recognizing those individuals and their lasting contributions is a special privilege for the National Dairy Shrine (NDS). This honor is multiplied five-fold in 2012, matching the number of Industry Pioneers being inducted this year into the National Dairy Shrine Museum and Dairy Hall of Fame in Fort Atkinson, Wis. Nominated by NDS members and selected by an anonymous committee, portraits of each inductee will join those of previous winners on permanent display in the museum.

Denmark, Wis. - College students who are looking for an internship can find an assortment of possibilities on the National Dairy Shrine website. The directory currently contains 33 different internships across the country available to college students. Because some of the internship positions have more than one intern, the actual number of offerings totals 71. There are opportunities for students to take internships in communications, public relations, marketing, on-farm consulting, youth education, and company development.

NATIONAL DAIRY SHRINE IMPROVES DAIRY EXHIBITS - July 2012

Denmark, Wis. - The National Dairy Shrine Museum in Fort Atkinson, Wis., announces the installation of a new farm diorama in its multi-media dairy display. The new diorama captures the essence of a modern dairy farm. As part of the project, the National Dairy Shrine Museum Committee chose the Hoard's Dairyman Farm as the model for the display. The new diorama includes scaled replicas of the Hoard's Dairyman Farm milking parlor, free stalls, calf hutches, tractors and other equipment, and the farm manager's house.

90th COLLEGIATE DAIRY PRODUCTS EVALUATION CONTEST RESULTS - April 2012

Denmark, Wis. - For the 90th year the Collegiate Dairy Products Evaluation Contest tested the skill of students from university dairy programs across North America. This year's contest was hosted at the Kraft Foods Research Facility in Glenview, Illinois. Eleven colleges entered thirty three undergraduates and five schools entered seven graduate students for this unique competition.

2011 NDS GRADUATE DAIRY PRODUCTION AWARD PRESENTED TO PENNSYLVANIA PRODUCER - July 2011

Denmark, Wis. - Business savvy, a thirst for efficiency, and a passion for genetics that helped propel an already outstanding Lebanon, Penn., family dairy herd to even loftier heights, have earned Joel Krall the National Dairy Shrine Graduate Dairy Production Award for 2011. The award was created in 2009 to recognize, encourage and assist qualified two year or four-year agricultural college graduates to pursue careers in commercial dairying and to gain ownership of dairy cattle to grow the size of their herd. Entrants apply during their second to ninth year after graduation. Krall will receive a $2,500 cash award from sponsor Elanco Animal Health, which will be presented this fall at the NDS Awards Banquet during World Dairy Expo in Madison, Wisc.
