Denmark, Wis. - Two outstanding dairy operations have been selected to receive the National Dairy Shrine's prestigious Progressive Dairy Producer award for 2011. Those two farms represent herds less than and greater than 300 milking. In the 300 or less category, Krause Holsteins, the Krause family from Buffalo, Minn., are being honored. In the 300 and more category, Blue Hyll Dairy - the Burken family of Clinton, Iowa are recognized. Both herds embody what the award seeks to recognize. 2011 NDS GRADUATE DAIRY PRODUCTION AWARD PRESENTED TO PENNSYLVANIA PRODUCER - July 2011

Denmark, Wis. - Business savvy, a thirst for efficiency, and a passion for genetics that helped propel an already outstanding Lebanon, Penn., family dairy herd to even loftier heights, have earned Joel Krall the National Dairy Shrine Graduate Dairy Production Award for 2011. The award was created in 2009 to recognize, encourage and assist qualified two year or four-year agricultural college graduates to pursue careers in commercial dairying and to gain ownership of dairy cattle to grow the size of their herd. Entrants apply during their second to ninth year after graduation. Krall will receive a $2,500 cash award from sponsor Elanco Animal Health, which will be presented this fall at the NDS Awards Banquet during World Dairy Expo in Madison, Wisc.

National Dairy Shrine Establishes Cornerstone Award to Recognize Industry Partners - October 2010

The National Dairy Shrine introduced a new Cornerstone Award this year to recognize corporate sponsors who have provided long-term support and exceptional contributions to National Dairy Shrine. The Cornerstone Award will not be presented annually, but will be bestowed at the discretion of the board of directors to deserving organizations. The name for the award was chosen to reflect the fact that the support of these companies provides a significant contribution to the foundation of National Dairy Shrine. Two outstanding partners of National Dairy Shrine were honored at the 61 st annual banquet, held September 30, 2010 at World Dairy Expo in Madison , Wis. The inaugural Cornerstone Awards recognized Dairy Farmers of America and Hoard's Dairyman.

National Dairy Shrine elects new President and Directors - October 2010

At the 61th annual meeting of the National Dairy Shrine, Mary Shank Creek, an Ayrshire breeder and dairy producer from Hagerstown , Md. , was elected president of the organization. Meanwhile, Erick Metzger, the Manager of National All Jersey from Reynoldsburg , Ohio was chosen president-elect. Elected to the executive committee along with Creek and Metzger were: Dale Olver, University Park, Pa.; Ken Crandall, Provo, Utah; Maggie Murphy, Summerfield, Florida; and immediate past president Corey Geiger, Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin. The National Dairy Shrine board of directors consists of 21 members. This year, two new directors were elected to the board. They included Nancy Feeney, Davenport, Iowa and Fred Hendricks, Bucyrus, Ohio.
