Siemers Holsteins Internship

Siemers Holsteins is proud to offer exciting internship opportunities for college students who are interested in further developing their skills and knowledge of herdsmanship, nutrition, reproduction, management, farming and genetics. Internships are available year-round, but are most common in the summer months. The time and duration of the internship can be flexible and modified to fit each student’s schedule.

Siemers Holsteins is located in northeastern Wisconsin on beautiful Lake Michigan between Milwaukee and Green Bay. They are currently milking over 2,700 cows with a rolling herd average of 37,121 pounds of milk and crop over 5,400 acres. Siemers enjoy owning, developing and breeding elite cattle with a special interest in showing their registered Holsteins and marketing bulls into stud.

Participants will have the opportunity to work in the day-to-day operations of the dairy, with dairy staff, calf team, outside team, Genetic-Specialty farm, and our farming operation.

The goal is for the participant to have the opportunity to see all sides of the business and work with all members of our team. It is also our goal that this individual will help present new opportunities and ideas that they think could benefit the dairy in any way. Siemers Holsteins is very team focused company that is seeking a very like-minded individual who can work well with others and work between departments.


1. Siemers Holsteins Internship program is a hands-on, working experience focused on large scale/and a Genetic-Specialty Holstein dairy operations and large-scale farming operation. Interns will have the opportunity to learn herdsman-level skills, crop production, and show cattle care and preparation.
2. In addition to the basic cow and dairy operations skills, the program covers management issues such as employee relations, government regulations and fiscal responsibility.
3. The program goal is to develop herdsman-level dairy skills and interns are expected to be part of the dairy and outside work teams. Interns may work up to 60 hours per week and will have one day off per week.


1. Be a college sophomore, junior, or senior student earning a degree in dairy science, dairy management or related major. Valid driver's license, including a safe driving record. You must have the legal right to work in the United States.
2. How do I apply, and what are the deadlines?
There is not a formal application form for any of the Siemers Holsteins internships. Instead, candidates must submit a cover letter, resume and references. Materials are due no later than November 1.
3. The program goal is to develop herdsman-level dairy skills and interns are expected to be part of the dairy and outside work teams.
4. Be available to work full-time during the program term -€“8 to 10 weeks -€“ Internships may also be extended beyond the ten weeks.
5. What if I need time off?
Siemers Holsteins understands that college is a busy time, and therefore generally will allow one week (without pay). As with any job, prior approval from the supervisor is required.
